(National Sentinel) Some Policy: After yet another highly publicized and very deadly weekend in Chicago, Mayor Rahm Emanual has come up with a plan to finally address the rising gang-related violence. Sort of.
He’s essentially asking gangs to cut it out.
While promising to deploy “hundreds” more police officers, Emanuel said in an address that he also wants to see an “attitudinal change” among Chicagoans — and especially gang bangers.
Not even kidding.
As the Chicago Sun-Times reports:
Chicago police Supt. Eddie Johnson announced Tuesday that hundreds of additional officers will be put on the streets this week in neighborhoods wracked by gun violence as the city reels from its bloodiest weekend this year.
The “strategic deployments†will add 430 officers to five South Side and West Side police districts: Calumet, Gresham, Ogden, Harrison and Austin.
“We’ll go as long as it takes to get things under control,†Johnson said at a news conference at police headquarters alongside Mayor Rahm Emanuel, a few aldermen and pastors.
The deployments come in response to a barrage of weekend attacks that garnered international attention as 71 people were shot, 12 of them killed. The violence peaked early Sunday, when 30 people were shot during a three-hour span, including eight in a single shooting in Auburn Gresham. About a dozen more people were shot Monday.
Emanuel doubled down on his call Monday for people to “be a neighbor†and “speak up†to identify shooters. He said Tuesday an “attitudinal change†is needed to tamp down the carnage.
“This might not be politically correct, but I know the power of what faith and family can do,†Emanuel said. “There is nothing on the streets of Chicago that is stronger than what is in the faith community and what’s in family. Our kids need that structure.â€
Not only have Democrats like Rahm Emanuel been singularly responsible for the dehumanizing efforts to vanquish faith in our culture with policies like blanket support for abortion and attacks on Christians, their economic, law enforcement, and public sector policies have created all of this turmoil.
How many Deep Blue cities like Chicago have massive crime and violence problems?
Nearly all of them.
Asking people to change their attitudes is going to be about as effective as every other worthless Democratic policy thus far.
And yet Chicagoans have nobody to blame but themselves because they keep voting for these empty-suit Democratic clowns who double down on failed policies and then beg people to ‘just do better.’
Pardon us if we pronounce Mayor Emanuel’s new non-policy dead on arrival.
