(National Sentinel)Â America First:Â Like every other policy POTUS Donald Trump pursues, his decision to hit China and the European Union with tariffs on imported goods was met with derision, anger, and dire predictions of economic doom and gloom.
He’ll crash the global economy.
Tariffs are awful, terrible things that bring chaos and financial ruin and massive job losses to America.
And so on.
What most Americans don’t know and the vociferously anti-Trump establishment media will never report is that the U.S. has placed tariffs on thousands of goods for decades.Â
They are listed in the annual Harmonized Tariff Schedule which is collated and published by the United States International Trade Commission.
So in other words, Trump isn’t doing anything new.Â
He’s just placing additional tariffs on more U.S. goods in a way designed to bring parties to the table to talk about making trade between us and our allies (and competitors — like China) more equitable for America.
And guess what? It’s working.
As POTUS noted Tuesday in a short series of tweets, our European allies are coming to Washington to talk about a more equitable trade arrangement after sticking it to the United States since the end of World War II.
“Countries that have treated us unfairly on trade for years are all coming to Washington to negotiate. This should have taken place many years ago but, as the saying goes, better late than never!” the president tweeted.

He added: “Tariffs are the greatest! Either a country which has treated the United States unfairly on Trade negotiates a fair deal, or it gets hit with Tariffs. It’s as simple as that – and everybody’s talking! Remember, we are the “piggy bank†that’s being robbed. All will be Great!”

It should be noted that European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker and European Commissioner for Trade Cecilia Malmstrom will meet with President Trump on Wednesday in Washington DC.
So much winning!
