(National Sentinel)Â Typical: If President Donald Trump woke up tomorrow and cured all forms of cancer, someone somewhere would find something to complain about.
Some of that criticism, no doubt, would also come from people he saved — because even though they would be cancer-free, they’d still be afflicted by Trump Derangement Syndrome.
What POTUS Trump did overnight in signing a four-point denuclearization agreement with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un was nothing short of historic.
The agreement, which was no doubt worked out well in advance or Trump wouldn’t have shown up in the first place — that’s how diplomatic tradecraft works — is clear in what it aims to accomplish, as we reported earlier:
- The United States and the DPRK commit to establish new U.S.–DPRK relations in accordance with the desire of the peoples of the two countries for peace and prosperity.
- The United States and the DPRK will join their efforts to build a lasting and stable peace regime on the Korean Peninsula.
- Reaffirming the April 27, 2018 Panmunjom Declaration, the DPRK commits to work toward complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.
- The United States and the DPRK commit to recovering POW/MIA remains, including the immediate repatriation of those already identified.
Note the highlighted portion of the agreement.
That’s the historic part.
Just a year ago, POTUS Trump and Kim were trading barbs and insults. Trump was very clearly and very straightforwardly threatening to annihilate North Korea, much to the chagrin of South Korea, China, and Russia.
At that time he was being criticized by the haters as a “madman,” an “idiot” and a “dolt” who was going to fulfill their worst nightmares and bring about nuclear holocaust.
What he brought about instead was peace.
Trump’s refusal to back down was what got Kim’s attention and the attention of his main benefactor — Chinese President Xi Jinping. Trump’s steadfastness led to this historic agreement.
But since Obama couldn’t do it — or Bush 43 or Bush 41 or Clinton or anyone else in the Washington, D.C. ‘club’ — then the only thing left for the phony ‘experts’ and diplomats and pundits is to criticize the president who did get it done.
That’s all they’ve got.
“The president’s praise for the dictator of North Korea was disquieting… The paper that was signed yesterday was weak,” chided #nevertrump “conservative” Ben Shapiro — who, as a Harvard law grad makes a lousy national security and foreign policy expert.
Hey Ben, you know who else American presidents have sat down with to avoid nuclear or total war? FDR sat down with gulag master and mass murder Josef Stalin to end World War II. Ronald Reagan sat down with the Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbechev to end the Cold War.
Great presidents do such things when they are in the interests of the American people. We aren’t negotiating with Kim to tell him how to run his country; we’re negotiating to get rid of a potent nuclear threat. How ’bout you put your thinking cap on next time before you speak?
Over at MSNBC, meanwhile, the perpetually unhinged morning host Joe Scarborough made the same dumb argument as Shapiro. And for extra measure, he had on an “expert” guest who has failed to accomplish anything nearly as substantial in his career to tell us all how dumb Trump is.
Scarborough railed against the President Tuesday morning, claiming POTUS was “sick†for not publicly condemning North Korea’s human right’s record during the summit and repudiating the Communist regime’s treatment of Otto Warmbier.
“I thought it was tortured logic at best to say that the North Koreans murder of Otto Warmbier was a time of reflection for them – that’s just not true at all. I personally think it’s sick for him to suggest such a thing about the most murderous regime, one of the most murderous regimes on the face of the earth,†Scarborough whined.
Meanwhile, presidential historian Jon Meacham dished on Trump’s mental capacity.
“Complexity is not Donald Trump’s friend, obviously, and never has been and isn’t here,†he said. “Suddenly that personal characteristic –  his need to simplify everything, to make a deal out of it in which he is a protagonist and the person across the table is a co-star to some extent, is now intersecting with the life of nations.â€
Har, har, Jon. Good one!
The fact is — and this is really all that matters –Â Trump is the one who got this deal done. Period.
It doesn’t matter what any of these jerks really think. It doesn’t matter what any of these jerks really say.
What matters are results. And Trump is the one who has delivered on this issue.
Earlier, Obama’s failed national security adviser Susan Rice, who may have criminally unmasked American citizens tied to Trump’s 2016 campaign, claimed that Obama could have done this if only Kim had decided at that time he was ready to deal.
Kim was only “ready to deal” after Trump — using credible threats of force and maximum sanctions — forced him to become “ready.”
Obama couldn’t even get the Iranians to sign his ‘nuclear deal.
Trump Derangement Syndrome is a sad thing to see. But it so very often causes otherwise rational people to think and say very irrational things.
We’ll see if the deal Trump and Kim made holds up. We certainly hope it does, though there are sickos on the Left who are hoping it doesn’t.
Time will tell. What is very true and obvious, however, is that no president before Trump has ever gotten this close to making this kind of a deal. The president deserves credit and plaudits for it, regardless what the hand-wringing, whining, unaccomplished, professional punditry class says.
