(National Sentinel) Tired of Waiting: Republicans fed up with the Justice Department’s continued refusal to appoint a second special counsel to investigate well-documented corruption against President Donald J. Trump’s 2016 campaign stepped up the pressure on Tuesday.

Taking their frustrations public, members of the House Freedom Caucus are demanding a second probe into actions taken by the Obama DoJ and FBI that are highly dubious and likely illegal in their attempt to undermine the Trump campaign and drive the incoming president from office.

The feeling among the Freedom Caucus members is that the Justice Department, even now under Trump’s tutelage, is incapable of investigating itself.

Their instincts, driven by experience, are correct.

Rep. Lee Zeldin, R-N.Y., led about a dozen GOP lawmakers during a press conference Tuesday.

“The Justice Department cannot be expected to investigate itself,” Zeldin said.

In addition to looking into Trump campaign malfesance, the lawmakers want the second special counsel to investigate the FBI’s decision to end Hillary Clinton’s email investigation, despite her obvious guilty, and how and why the Trump-Russia probe was initiated.

There is a growing believe among Republicans in Congress that AG Jeff Sessions’ handpicked U.S. attorney, John Huber — who was appointed by Obama — won’t be a straight shooter and may not act on criminal referrals he is given by the DoJ Inspector General Michael Horowitz.

That’s certainly possible, but the GOP needs to do everything it can to keep the pressure on Sessions to stand up like an AG and do what Trump appointed him to do.
