(National Sentinel) The Swamp: A pair of Republican lawmakers appeared on Fox News Friday with former GOP congressman Jason Chaffetz of Utah to make a startling prediction about the fate of fired FBI Director James Comey.
As you may know, the DC Swamp fears the upcoming release of Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz’s investigative report regarding Obama-era malfeasance, including Comey’s mishandling of Hillary Clinton’s massive classified email scandal, among other things.
The report has been more than a year in the making, as we reported in January 2017 –Â before then-President-elect Donald J. Trump was sworn into office and long before anyone really knew the extent of Obama’s election corruption:
The IG’s office announced it plans to review the actions and behavior of the FBI and the department in the months leading up to the November elections, an investigation that is sure to include how DoJ and the FBI handled the Hillary Clinton email probe.
The Washington Post further noted:
The Department of Justice inspector general will review broad allegations of misconduct involving the FBI’s investigation of Hillary Clinton’s email practices and the bureau’s controversial decision shortly before the election to announce the probe had resumed, the Inspector General announced Thursday.
The probe will be wide ranging — encompassing the FBI’s various public statements on the matter, whether its deputy director should have been recused and whether Department of Justice or FBI employees leaked non-public information, according to a news release from Inspector General Michael E. Horowitz.
During his appearance with retiring fellow Rep. Trey Gowdy, R-S.C., and Chaffetz, Rep. John Ratcliff of Texas said he believes Horowitz’s final report will implicate Comey, among others, in “misconduct.”
“It’s ironic to me that he (Comey) is the one who created the allegation of obstruction of justice against Donald Trump and now he’s the same person who has effectively torpedoed the ability of the Special Counsel to ever prove obstruction,” Ratcliff said. “The 15 pages of secret memos never mention obstruction of justice a single time. And, in fact, one of the memos does exactly the opposite.
“Well, does he have any legal jeopardy himself, Director Comey?” Chaffetz, who was subbing for Sean Hannity, asked.
“Wel,l I think the best answer to that Jason will come with the release of the inspector general report. We all anticipate that that will happen shortly. We also know that the Inspector General Michael Horowitz is someone who has proven himself to be a fair umpire,” said Ratcliff.
“Someone who calls balls and strikes fairly and when appropriate will make criminal referral of the Deputy FBI Director. I will tell you, not having seen the report, I will be surprised if the Inspector General does not find misconduct by former director Comey,” he added.
“I think he will find that he violated his employment agreement, made unauthorized disclosures of FBI documents. And whether those are classified or not, those are improper leaks,” he continued. “And I think he will find that he made demonstrably false statements that I think have been highlighted by some of the congressional transcripts.”
Last month, former FBI assistant director Chris Swecker told Fox News he thinks Horowitz’s report will contain “pure TNT.”
“The behavior, if it’s manifested in the action with your thumb on the scale of a particular investigation, one way or the other, that’s borderline criminal behavior — manipulating an investigation,†he said.
“I think this IG report is going to be particularly impactful, more so than any of these useless congressional investigations. I think you’re going to see some pure TNT come out in this IG report,†he added.
