(National Sentinel) Tone Deaf: Hollywood stars gathered Sunday evening for the 90th Academy Awards at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, during which many A-listers pushed for gun control following the most recent mass shooting at a Parkland, Fla., school.

But, as Breitbart News reported, some 500 armed LAPD officers essentially surrounded the venue to protect them.

“We have these concentric rings of security that start in the middle and radiate outward,” said LAPD Cmdr. Blake Chow, the man tasked with overseeing the massive operation. “We have a lot of officers in fixed posts and foot beats keeping an eye on the event.”

Several stars wore orange or orange lapel pins to show their support for stricter gun control measures and the Michael Bloomberg-founded gun control advocacy group Everytown for Gun Safety.

Breitbart Hollywood  reported further:

Indeed, there will be road closures to prevent people breaching a security perimeter made up of a wall of ten-foot gates and barricades, FBI agents, and firefighters. Police helicopters will be buzzing above and private security guards from Security Industry Specialists will be inside the Dolby Theater.

“There’s definitely going to be an extensive police presence,” LAPD Officer Luis Garcia told the news site.

Chow said the Las Vegas shootings were “something that was kind of new” and as such forced his department to reconsider security measures.

“The hypocrisy of Hollywood is stunning on the issues of guns,” said J. D. Heyes, editor-in-chief of The National Sentinel. “To show up at the Oscars wearing orange symbols of gun control while wading through layers of armed police officers and not get the irony is the epitome of tone-deafness.

“What these people don’t understand is that the Second Amendment is the guarantor of all other amendments, including their First Amendment speech and expression rights,” he added. “I suspect that concept is completely lost on most of them, however.”
