(National Sentinel) Late last week House Intelligence Committee Ranking Member Adam Schiff, D-Calif., sent a memo to the White House for declassification and release approval that allegedly refuted much of what was contained in the GOP-drafted “FISA Memo” released the week prior.

Schiff told various media outlets all week that his memo was important because its release would set the record straight and correct a number of factual errors he claimed were misrepresented in the original memo or were omitted altogether.

But when Schiff sent his counter-memo to President Donald J. Trump last week it was rejected because the White House said it contained classified information regarding individuals and methods that would be compromised upon release.

Schiff and Democrats this weekend took to various media to criticize Trump’s decision and attempt to portray it as partisan and hypocritical since Trump permitted the release of the FISA Memo.

But House Freedom Caucus Chairman Rep. Mark Meadows, R-N.C., hit back at Schiff noting that its alleged importance is not spurring confidence among most Democrats.

“Democrats keep complaining about their counter-memo not being released. But if it was so critical, why have 75% of House Dems not even read their own memo? Perhaps even they know: this memo was written in panic as a misdirection from the disturbing information we already know,” he tweeted.

Last week, investigative journalist and Fox News correspondent Sara A. Carter reported that Schiff purposely added sources and intelligence collection methods to his memo so that it would be rejected and give him talking points with the media and supporters regarding the president’s supposed partisanship.

“Just look at what’s been happening from the beginning- my sources say yes. But really it’s up to to answer that question,” she tweeted.

Fox News‘ John Roberts tweeted the same thing, quoting some of his sources.

“Sources tell that the memo contains information pertaining to ‘sources and methods’ that will likely require redaction. One source says this was done tactically to force the into making changes - setting up a contrast with GOP memo,” he wrote.
