(National Sentinel)Â Deep State: Following a series of accusations of anti-Trump bias, Deputy Director Andrew McCabe is set to leave the bureau and “retire” early, reports said on Saturday.
McCabe’s retirement comes amid a shake-up at the embattled FBI, as Director Christopher Wray removed the FBI’s top lawyer, James Baker, having him reassigned within the bureau.
As reported by The Washington Post, McCabe will retire in a few months after becoming eligible for federal benefits. In the meantime, his role in several alleged scandals and violations of federal campaign laws are being examined by the Justice Department’s inspector general.
Among them, his mention in a text sent by FBI agent Peter Strzok to his mistress, FBI lawyer Lisa Page, in August 2016 indicating that the three of them were involved in a plot — an “insurance policy” — to prevent President Donald J. Trump from winning defeating Hillary Clinton or, if he did, to prevent him from staying in office.
“I want to believe the path you threw out for consideration in Andy’s office that there’s no way he gets elected — but I’m afraid we can’t take that risk. It’s like an insurance policy in the unlikely event you die before you’re 40,” Strzok texted to Page.
‘Andy’ was also thought to be McCabe.
Some McCabe critics have theorized that the so-called “Trump dossier” paid for by the Clinton campaign and the DNC alleging the president “colluded” with Russia during the election was that ‘policy.’
FOX News reported:
Investigators say McCabe recounted to the panel how hard the FBI had worked to verify the contents of the anti-Trump “dossier†and stood by its credibility. But when pressed to identify what in the salacious document the bureau had actually corroborated, the sources said, McCabe cited only the fact that Trump campaign adviser Carter Page had traveled to Moscow. Beyond that, investigators said, McCabe could not even say that the bureau had verified the dossier’s allegations about the specific meetings Page supposedly held in Moscow.
On Saturday, The National Sentinel reported that Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., told Fox News that the House Judiciary Committee, of which he is a member, had obtained email evidence from McCabe indicating that the bureau’s criminal probe into Clinton’s mishandling of classified information was coded “HQ Special,†a term suggesting that the investigation did not follow standard procedures, which resulted in a “softening†of the FBI’s findings.
“We have email evidence from Andrew McCabe indicating that Hillary Clinton was going to get an ‘HQ Special,’ a headquarters special,†he said.
