(National Sentinel) Sowing Division: Legacy political magazine Newsweek accused the Trump administration of not inviting American Urban Radio White House correspondent April Ryan because she is black.

Under the headline, “White House Bars One of Few Black Journalists From Attending Christmas Party,” the magazine noted:

Ryan, a CNN political analyst who has said journalists of color are considered the “opposition” to the Trump administration, said it was the first time in her career as a White House reporter she had been excluded from the guest list. Washington correspondents from mainstream media outlets and other publications covering the White House have all reportedly received their invitations. That said, CNN said it was boycotting the annual tradition “in light of the president’s continued attacks on freedom of the press and CNN,” the network told Politico.

“I don’t think I was overlooked,” Ryan told The Washington Post. “I think they don’t like me. For whatever reason, they have disdain for me.”

Ryan is known for being extremely combative with Trump administration spokespersons, having had heated and at times unprofessional exchanges with former White House spokesman Sean Spicer and his replacement, Sarah Huckabee Sanders.

In recent days, Ryan seemed to accuse Sanders of wanting to poison her with a chocolate pecan pie the White House spokesperson had made for the White House press corps over Thanksgiving.

“Okay I want to watch you bake it and put it on the table. But forgive I won’t eat it. Remember you guys don’t like the press.” And “Just send a photo of your pie on the Thanksgiving table on the farm!” she said after Sanders offered to bake her one personally.

On Monday, Ryan — who is also a correspondent for CNN, accused the administration of treating her differently because she is “a different race.”

“And then, you know, God forbid, yes, God forbid you are someone of a different race. I’m speaking of myself, you’re considered an opposition. I don’t bring my politics, I just ask questions about what’s right and wrong, or things that go on in Washington…” she told host Don Lemon, who is also black.
