(National Sentinel)Â Un-American: As “take-a-knee” protests continue to ruin the NFL, now others are beginning to act out in disrespecting the country, its flag, and its traditions.
As reported by MLive, council members Chip Smith, Chuck Warpehoski, Sumi Kailasapathy and Jason Frenzel knelt while others stood for the pledge.
Writing on The Federalist Papers, Brian Thomas echoed the feeling of a majority of Americans when he criticized the four as doing the wrong thing for the wrong reasons.
“Ann Arbor’s City Council chose to resist President (Donald) Trump’s assessment that such protests disrespect the flag and the country,†he said, adding: “City Council members have every means of spreading their reasons for protest without disrespecting the flag, but they instead decided to get down on the floor in order show demonstrate their ‘attention.”
“Can City Council in Ann Arbor think of no better way to promote ‘attention’ than protesting the Pledge of Allegiance at their own meetings?†Thomas noted.
Residents and others showed their displeasure at the display on Twitter.

Like virtually every disrespectful NFL player, these four appeared dishonest in their attempt to say that their act wasn’t really a protest of ‘anything specific’ — you know, except against Trump.
“I can’t speak to what is in each person’s heart, but for me to ‘take a knee’ is an act of attention, of concern, and of respect,â€Â Warpehoski wrote on his website ahead of Monday’s meeting.
“And it is in that spirit that I take a knee at tonight’s City Council meeting: out of respect for the aspiration that we be a nation ‘with liberty and justice for all,’ with full attention that we fall short of that ideal in many ways, and with humble dedication to continue to work that the promise of the pledge may be fulfilled,” Warpehoski added.
Well, as a country, we’ve always “fallen short” of a number of our ideals — like freedom of healthcare choice, unfettered gun ownership, tax fairness, punishing lawbreaking scoundrels (the Clintons come to mind) — but the fact that we are always striving to reach those goals is a whole lot more than we can say for most other countries, pal.
In any event, only a Left-wing nut job could convince himself that he’s not really disrespecting our country when he “protests” during the Pledge of Allegiance.
