(National Sentinel) Hollyweird: The Academy of Motion Pictures has expelled famed director Harvey Weinstein over allegations of decades of sexual abuse, but are being assailed by critics for allowing other predators remain part of the Oscars.
“The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Board of Governors met today to discuss the allegations against Harvey Weinstein, and has voted well in excess of the required two-thirds majority to immediately expel him from the Academy,” said the statement.
“We do so not simply to separate ourselves from someone who does not merit the respect of his colleagues, but also to send a message that the era of willful ignorance and shameful complicity in sexually predatory behavior and workplace harassment in our industry is over,” the Academy’s statement continued. “What’s at issue here is a deeply troubling problem that has no place in our society.
“The Board continues to work to establish ethical standards of conduct that all Academy members will be expected to exemplify,†it concluded.
But the statement was immediately pounced upon by journalists and others for its hypocrisy, including former CNN host Piers Morgan, who tweeted, “BREAKING: Oscars Academy expels Harvey Weinstein over ‘sexually predatory behaviour’. * Child rapist Roman Polanski remains a member.”

Militia Ethridge, a segment producer at MSNBC, also noted the hypocrisy, pointing out that Polanski, along with Bill Cosby and Woody Allen also remain members:
OK so the Academy kicked out Harvey Weinstein.
But not Roman Polanski, Bill Cosby, or Woody Allen.
