(National Sentinel) Poison politics: For the moment, Democrats are joining Republicans in Congress in calling for more civility in political discourse and less hostility overall.

For now.

It won’t last, because Democrats will see to that. In the next few weeks, you can expect the Alt-Left once more ramp up the harsh political rhetoric that has marked their behavior since Donald J. Trump had the indecency to win the Nov. 8 election. Democrats’ apoplectic and insane Left-wing base is not in the mood for civility; they want blood (literally, as evidenced by the recent assassination attempt on Republicans by one of their  foot soldiers) and they will have it, one way or another.

As reported by Lifezette, even a number of politicians and other politicos don’t think the truce will endure:

Official Washington basked in a feel-good moment of bipartisanship on Thursday with the annual Republicans vs. Democrats charity baseball game.

House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) appeared on CNN with his Democratic counterpart, Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), in a show of unity in the wake of a shooting that has left Rep. Steve Scalise (R-La.) in critical condition.

Both wore LSU attire in honor of Scalise’s alma mater.

“We’re all close to Steve Scalise,” Pelosi told CNN anchor Jake Tapper. “He’s a lovely person … Tonight, we’re all Team Scalise.”

Said Ryan: “What we’re trying to do is tone down the rhetoric, lead by example and show people we can disagree with one another. We can have different ideas, without being vitriolic, without going to such extremes.”

If only it could last.

But it probably won’t.

“It’s an opportunity,” Cassandra Dahnke, co-founder of the Institute for Civility in Government, told the news site. “I’m not sure that’s what will happen.”

“When Gabrielle Giffords was shot six years ago, people said the exact same things … Things did not reset then,” she added.

Political observers say it’s best to watch actions because they speak much louder than words. For instance, Pelosi actually said she was “praying” for President Trump and his family “to be successful,” but up to now she’s been one of the most rancorous of all Democrats, competing at times with “Impeach 45!” bottom-dweller Maxine Waters of California, the Left-wing media’s new darling.

In fact, it took Pelosi exactly 24 hours to blame Fox News for everything.

Rep. Mark Walker, R-N.C., who was on the ball field in northern Virginia practicing with James T. Hodgkinson began firing on them, critically wounding Scalise, the House GOP leadership’s No. 3, told radio host Laura Ingraham Thursday that super-heated political rhetoric and actions (like, say, beheading the president or perhaps killing him like Caesar in a play) can motivate people to act.

“They get incited by this language and by this lingo … This level of language that’s being used against conservative thought, especially the last six or seven months, has picked up to a feverish pitch that I’ve never seen in my lifetime,” he said.

Rep. Ron DeSantis, who was also on the field practicing during the shootings, is also less than optimistic.

“There had been talk about maybe this would be an inflection point,” he said on MSNBC‘s “Morning Joe” program. “I got to tell you, I’m a little bit pessimistic that will — that anything much is going to change. I mean, I got a call after this happened to my congressional office, praising what had happened and hoping that Donald Trump was next. One of my colleagues got an e-mail saying, ‘One down, 216 to go.'”

Added Mark Meckler, president of Citizens for Self-Governance: “I think Democrats are already back on fire. This rhetoric does not come from the Right.”

Sean Hannity isn’t buying the “kumbaya” moment, either, alluding to scores of examples (for years!) of Democrats ravaging Republicans and tarring them with scandalous lies:

[Another point to think about is this: Democrats have so raised the expectations of their servile base - over impeaching Trump, over indicting his entire administration regarding this phony “Russia-collusion” business - they can ill afford to have the special counsel, Robert Mueller, who is recruiting a team of Left-wing activists, to come back in several months or next year sometime before the elections and say, “Sorry…we didn’t find anything. Guess everyone’s innocent!” Can you imagine the far-Left’s reaction to that? Can you imagine how congressional Democrats would take that news?]

Yeah, this lull isn’t going to last. Democrats now live and breathe on the anger they created within their base. They must have rancor in order to exist, and they will be aided and abetted by the disgustingly dishonest “mainstream” media.

In the age of Trump, it’s all they’ve got.
