(NationalSentinel) Political Media:Â Here we go again.
In late November, about two weeks after Donald J. Trump stunned his naysayers and won the presidency, the Washington Post published a highly questionable report containing a highly dubious claim from an incredibly unconfirmed source that Russia planted “fake news” stories in hundreds of “right-wing sites” to undermine Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton and help Trump.
After the story’s (and the Post’s) credibility was successfully challenged by various journalists and media outlets, the paper published a retraction of sorts distancing itself from one of the story’s principle sources.
Now, however, it appears as though the FBI has also been actively pursuing this line of investigation as part of its recently-announced probe into Team Trump’s alleged ‘ties’ to Mother Russia. As noted by McClatchy DC:
Federal investigators are examining whether far-right news sites played any role last year in a Russian cyber operation that dramatically widened the reach of news stories — some fictional — that favored Donald Trump’s presidential bid, two people familiar with the inquiry say.
Operatives for Russia appear to have strategically timed the computer commands, known as “bots,†to blitz social media with links to the pro-Trump stories at times when the billionaire businessman was on the defensive in his race against Democrat Hillary Clinton, these sources said.
The bots’ end products were largely millions of Twitter and Facebook posts carrying links to stories on conservative internet sites such as Breitbart News and InfoWars, as well as on the Kremlin-backed RT News and Sputnik News, the sources said. Some of the stories were false or mixed fact and fiction, said the sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the bot attacks are part of an FBI-led investigation into a multifaceted Russian operation to influence last year’s elections.
Investigators examining the bot attacks are exploring whether the far-right news operations took any actions to assist Russia’s operatives. Their participation, however, wasn’t necessary for the bots to amplify their news through Twitter and Facebook.
Note the highlighted portion above; the report essentially noted that conscious, purposeful assistance on the part of the “far-right news operations” wasn’t needed for this alleged Russian operation to work.

There’s something else: The implication that “far-right news operations” are somehow less-than-honest to begin with. With this information, the leakers appear to be sending a message to Americans that any news critical of the probe into Trump is fake because it’s “right-wing.”
And yet, if there are news agencies intentionally publishing fake news, it’s those on the Left: CNN, the Washington Post, The New York Times, ABC, CBS, NBC, and so on. And they are doing so to forward the fabricated narrative that “Russia hacked the election” to thwart Clinton and help Trump. There’s just no evidence to support that claim, but it continues to be made.
The fact that the country’s premier law enforcement agency is investigating any web sites based on their political philosophy is chilling and ought to be roundly opposed by both the Right and the Left.
We won’t hold our breath waiting for Democrats to speak up, however.
