(NationalSentinel) National Security: President Donald J. Trump is preparing to sign a new executive order banning travel to the U.S. from a half-dozen countries known to harbor terrorist organizations, The Associated Press is reporting, citing four administration officials.
What’s different this time is that Iraq will be dropped from the list of banned countries after military officials and diplomats convinced the commander-in-chief it would be in the United States’ best interests, given that many Iraqis had risked their lives to serveU.S. and NATO forces as interpreters and in other capacities.
The AP noted further:
Four officials told the Associated Press that the decision followed pressure from the Pentagon and State Department, which had urged the White House to reconsider Iraq’s inclusion given its key role in fighting the Islamic State group.
Citizens of six other predominantly Muslim countries — Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen — will remain on the travel ban list, said the officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they weren’t authorized to discuss the order before it is signed. Those bans are effective for 90 days.
The new order includes other changes as well. The officials said the 12-page document no longer singles out Syrian refugees for an indefinite ban and instead includes them as part of a general, 120-day suspension of new refugee admissions.
The new order also drops special considerations for Christians living in Muslim-centric nations, even though they are regularly singled out for persecution and murder.

The administration had been hinting for weeks it would issue a new travel ban since a single federal judge decided he had more authority than the president to make national security decisions and struck down Trump’s first travel ban. The ruling was then upheld by an appeals panel of the 9th Circuit Court, the court most overturned by the U.S. Supreme Court.
The revised order will also honor existing visas.
The Left will still no doubt freak and the discredited mainstream media will continue to emphasize that this new order, like the last, involved “Muslim-majority countries” so they can continue to claim the president is a racist bigot. But most Americans agree the president has the authority to take steps to protect the country from terrorist infiltration, and that he ought to take them.
“We will shortly take new steps to keep our nation safe and to keep out those who would do us harm,†Trump told Congress and the nation last night during his address to a joint session of the House and Senate.
