(NationalSentinel) If improving national security and ensuring that immigration laws were better enforced weren’t enough for President Donald Trump and Congress to follow through on the construction of the president’s proposed border wall, this should ice it: A new study has found that the wall would save taxpayers $64 billion a year in benefits (freebies) to illegal immigrants.
The analysis by the authoritative Center for Immigration Studies found that if the wall prevented “between 160,000 and 200,000 illegal crossers — 9 to 12 percent of those expected to successfully cross in the next decade — the fiscal savings would equal the $12 to $15 billion cost of the wall.”
Other findings include:
— Based on National Academies of Science (NAS) data, “illegal border-crossers create an average fiscal burden of approximately $74,722 during their lifetimes, excluding any costs for their U.S.-born children.”
— The same data show “immigrants who come to America with modest levels of education create significantly more in costs for government than they pay in taxes.”
— When comparing taxes paid minus services used of illegals with modest education levels, the NAS found “a net fiscal drain of $74,722 per illegal crosser.”
— “If a wall stopped half of those expected to successfully enter illegally without going through a port of entry at the southern border over the next 10 years, it would save taxpayers nearly $64 billion — several times the wall’s cost.”
And the savings might actually be higher, since Trump has pledged to use his infamous negotiating skills to get the price of the wall lowered. That’ll be good for Mexico, whom Trump has routinely said would ultimately pay for it.
