(NationalSentinel) On his way out the door, former President Obama said he and wife Michelle would take some time off and then get “busy” once again – undermining the presidency of his successor.
Before the election, Obama and most of the mainstream media were certain that Hillary Clinton would easily defeat Donald Trump, and as the Washington Examiner noted, when that was the case, Obama said he looked forward to a quiet retirement. That all changed Nov. 8.
“I promise you that next year Michelle and I are going to be right there with you, and the clouds are going to start parting and the sun is going to come back out, and we’re going to be busy, involved in the amazing stuff that we’ve been doing all these years before,” Obama told supporters in late November.
Sure enough, as the New York Post‘s Paul Sperry reported, Obama – back from vacation – is already plotting:
When former President Barack Obama said he was “heartened†by anti-Trump protests, he was sending a message of approval to his troops. Troops? Yes, Obama has an army of agitators — numbering more than 30,000 — who will fight his Republican successor at every turn of his historic presidency. And Obama will command them from a bunker less than two miles from the White House.
In what’s shaping up to be a highly unusual post-presidency, Obama isn’t just staying behind in Washington. He’s working behind the scenes to set up what will effectively be a shadow government to not only protect his threatened legacy, but to sabotage the incoming administration and its popular “America First†agenda.
He’s doing it through a network of leftist nonprofits led by Organizing for Action. Normally you’d expect an organization set up to support a politician and his agenda to close up shop after that candidate leaves office, but not Obama’s OFA. Rather, it’s gearing up for battle, with a growing war chest and more than 250 offices across the country.
And here the hapless mainstream media is thinking that all of these “protests” – of GOP town halls, on college campuses, in the streets of liberal cities – were all just spontaneous First Amendment expressions of political opposition, not organized and financed affairs featuring paid actors (the Republicans know all this, by the way, including the ‘mainstream’ media’s lack of interest in investigating and accurately reporting it).

Sperry notes further that the groups are vowing to fight the administration on any repeal of Obamacare, upholding immigration law, “race relations” and “climate change.”
Obama is intimately involved in OFA operations and even tweets from the group’s account. In fact, he gave marching orders to OFA foot soldiers following Trump’s upset victory.
The 55-year-old Obama is not content to go quietly into the night like other ex-presidents.
We saw this coming. In a December 31 post we wrote that Trump will have to remind the ‘mainstream’ media that he is president and not Obama, because they will run to the former president every time Trump makes any moves to repeal signature legislation or just change policies.
And we even proscribed a possible solution:
Here’s how to shut down Obama fast and early: Sean Spicer, as Trump’s spokesperson, or the president himself, will have to publicly remind the lapdog media and Obama that Trump is president now, that No. 44 had his two terms in office, and that he is no longer setting the country’s agenda. Policy is still set in the Executive Branch, and that branch is now occupied by someone who isn’t named Obama.
That won’t shut the man up, nor will it keep the press from running to him, mind you. But it will serve as a useful reminder to the country and the world that Donald J. Trump, and not Barack H. Obama, is now large and in charge in the Oval Office.
With the ratings that Spicer’s press briefings are getting, that would make the point quite boldly.
President Obama was no ordinary president in that he openly defied Congress (his “pen and phone” strategy); prosecuted more journalists under the Espionage Act than anyone before him (and the press still loves him for it); was more of an authoritarian that Trump has ever been or will ever be; and was the least transparent in history.
And now, he’s determined to protect that “legacy.” That’s what Americans ought to be more worried about.
