(NationalSentinel) During her latest (and last)Â unsuccessful bid for the White House, Hillary Clinton (and to another extent, Bill Clinton) had to fend off accusations that they had been using their family foundation as a mechanism for selling access to foreign governments.
The Clintons, of course, vociferously denied this, despite the fact that it was patently obvious foreign governments were donating to the Clinton Foundation A) while she was secretary of state and those governments had business before the U.S. government; and B) while she was running for president and everyone thought she would win.
But she didn’t win. And now, suddenly, the donations have dried up…so much so that the ‘foundation’ will be shuttering one of its main foreign ‘charity’ operations. As reported by The Observer:
The Clinton Foundation’s long list of wealthy donors and foreign government contributors during the 2016 elections provoked critics to allege conflicts of interests. Clinton partisans defended the organization’s charitable work, and dismissed claims that it served as a means for the Clintons to sell off access, market themselves on the paid speech circuit, and elevate their brand as Hillary Clinton campaigned for the presidency.
But as soon as Clinton lost the election, many of the criticisms directed toward the Clinton Foundation were reaffirmed. Foreign governments began pulling out of annual donations, signaling the organization’s clout was predicated on donor access to the Clintons, rather than its philanthropic work. In November, the Australian government confirmed it “has not renewed any of its partnerships with the scandal-plagued Clinton Foundation, effectively ending 10 years of taxpayer-funded contributions worth more than $88 million.†The government of Norway also drastically reduced their annual donations, which reached $20 million a year in 2015.
On January 12, the Clinton Foundation received more bad news: a WARN notice was filed with the New York Department of Labor. The main office of the Clinton Global Initiative in New York City would be closing, laying off 22 employees.Â
During the campaign, Wikileaks revealed several documents that proved the Clintons were running a “pay-for-play” operation through their foundation, which netted them hundreds of millions of dollars, personally. Even the Washington Post, the bedrock of Washington establishment newspapers, published a story in October revealing how the foundation was being used to personally enrich the former president.
What this reveals more than anything is that Hillary Clinton, and not Donald Trump, was the more compromised of the two candidates. The angry Left, including the Obama administration, has created the false narrative of Trumpian ties to Mother Russia, when it was Clinton selling access and promising favors for those millions of dollars’ worth of donations. In fact, if anyone has helped Russia gain a strategic advantage over the U.S. in recent years, it was Clinton and President Obama when they signed off on handing Moscow 20 percent of our strategic uranium reserves–again, while money “flowed” to the Clinton Foundation, as The New York Times reported.
The closure of the CGI is de facto proof that the Clintons were running their foundation as an operation to gain personal wealth while selling access to foreign governments. Were that not the case, foreign governments would now not be pulling out of CGI in droves.
Guess those governments weren’t as “charitable” as they made out to be, huh?
Notes The Observer: “The Clinton Foundation‘s downward trajectory ever since since Hillary Clinton’s election loss provides further testimony to claims that the organization was built on greed and the lust for power and wealth—not charity.”
